With great sadness, we record the death in September of John Wiltshire’s wife Zaiga, after a long illness.

John dedicated his 2010 Fleeman Lecture to her memory. Zaiga had been a long-time member of the JSA and regularly attended meetings, even when her health was failing, and endeared herself to all those she met. She was a brilliant mathematician and economist during a long academic career.

All our members will join us in extending our deepest sympathy to John and his family. Our President Barrie Sheppard and committee member Bryan Reid represented the JSA at Zaiga’s funeral.
